Funeral Chapel & Cemetery Grounds

River View Cemetery is a Full Service Cemetery. What that means to you is that we are here to help in any way we can including but not limited to:

Charles Francis Adams Memorial Chapel was built in the early 1940's to accommodate the needs of families and friends who choose to hold their funeral or memorial service here, eliminating the need for a funeral procession. The chapel is a warm and friendly place, accommodating up to 135 guests. This breathtaking chapel was designed by the world famous architect Pietro Belluschi, one of his rare and historical structures in the Northwest.

Hospitality is the idea behind the Hospitality Room. This fireside room was remodeled in early 1990 to create an elegant yet comfortable room which can be used to visit with family and friends who have come to a graveside, chapel, memorial, or funeral service in the Adams Chapel. This all-occasion room is available for rent for other occasions too. Coffee and finger food may be catered in.

Flower Placement - River View Cemetery will happily place any flowers delivered to the office for placement on your loved one's grave, crypt or niche.

 

 

 

Cemetery Property Options


Hilltop Garden Mausoleum, our outdoor garden mausoleum is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Willamette River with views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. It is beautifully designed in simple, classic brick lines. Hilltop Garden Mausoleum is for those who prefer sheltered outdoor vault entombment, or cremation inurnment at moderate cost. Crypts and niches in Hilltop Garden Mausoleum offer the preservation of above ground placement- yet there is the feel of outdoors and fresh air. This mausoleum also offers a "Wall of Remembrance" for families who wish to "memorialize" or honor a loved one who may have been scattered.

 

 

 

The Main Mausoleum displays a quiet beauty and although it is an indoor facility, it presents a stately, monumental, solid image. The atmosphere is enhanced with large windows, heat, natural and soft lighting, deep carpeting. There is convenient parking both at the front door or at the lower entrance. The elevator makes all four levels of this indoor facility easily accessible.

Sites for Private Family Mausoleums are also available. This selection would enable your family to enjoy the prestige and privacy of having a location for your own private family mausoleum building. River View Cemetery Main Mausoleumcurrently has 10 such structures.

 

 

 

Inurnment Niches, including our bronze glass front niches, are available for cremation inurnment in the Main Mausoleum. Niches are also available in our Hilltop Garden Mausoleum and in our newly developed "Garden of Reflection". Specially developed ground inurnment sites are also available in our "Sunrise Garden" area adjacent to the Hilltop Garden Mausoleum building as well as else where in the cemetery. We have a scattering area where families can memorialize a loved one who has been scattered. The scattering need not be at River View Cemetery, we welcome anyone to memorialize their loved one.

 

 

 

Ground Burials - there are a number of choices for ground burial. Among them are sites for traditional burials, ground sites for cremation burial, and areas designated for family plots with the ability to have a large monument. There are also a limited number of individual sites on which we allow a "high marker". Prices vary according to the site location and locations can be selected to reflect your choice of high or low elevations, close to trees, where the sun shines, with spectacular views and where you can hear a stream.

 

 

 

The Wall of Remembrance, specifically designed for families who wish to memorialize a loved one who has no other location for memorialization. Families find this wall of great solace and comfort. It is important to have a place to come to memorialize, to remember. Memorialization is simple, yet dignified - the deceased's name and years of birth and death. This is offered at a very nominal fee.

River View Cemetery is available to help you with all other merchandise and services which will be needed to complete a placement.

 

 

Outer Burial Containers
All outer burial containers are designed to hold the position of the grave around the casket or urn from the weight of the earth. The outer burial containers range in price according to the amount of protection they offer.

 

 

Open and closing of the placement location
The service of opening and closing the placement location is a service which includes but is not limited to grave setups, cleaning out niches and crypts before placement. The cemetery has established fees for this service.

 

 

Memorialization

The memorialization of your loved ones is available and choices are determined by the space available and products available. River View Cemetery uses granite as the medium for outdoor memorialization, any other medium such as bronze or marble is not accepted.

 

 

Marker / Monument
Granite memorials are available from the world's best quarries - ranging in color from light grey to deep red. Samples are in our cemetery office for your selection. All memorials are reasonably priced according to size, design and color of granite. River View Cemetery also has available upright memorials, honoring an age old tradition, for those families wishing to continue their family tradition or start a new family tradition.

 

 

Lettering
Lettering is used for memorializing on the niche or crypt front as well as on the Wall of Remembrance and memorial plaques or memorial rocks.

 

 

Funeral Home Option

A full-service funeral home is now located on the grounds of River View Cemetery. Professional, caring service is offered by funeral directors; Gillian Fitzhugh, Gary Sands, Monica Trejo, Gordy Reece and Maleah Wraith. River View Cemetery Funeral Home serves all faiths and all cemeteries, offering traditional and memorial services, and offers the convenience of an on-site crematory.
